4.15 Queensferry Stakes 6f (Class 1 Listed)
An interesting Listed contest this Sunday over at Chester in the Queensferry Stakes over 6 furlongs and it’s attracted some high class sprinters. Kimberella is at the top of the market for Richard Fahey. He flopped last time out in a Group 3 in Sweden however he is a dual course winner and if showing some of his previous form he is a big player.
Judicial is two from two here however all of his wins have come over a shorter trip. That being said though he is a player if handling the step up at a track that he clearly likes, he’s trading at a general 4/1 and Joe Doyle takes the ride.
The one I like here though is Cotai Glory for Charles Hills. He’s raced in some real hot contests over the years including a respectable seventh in this year’s King’s Stand at Royal Ascot won by Lady Aurelia. He was a close up third in a Listed contest last time out at York behind Take Cover and if he brings the kind of form we saw off him last year he’s a big player here. It could be argued that he’s best suited over five furlongs however I still believe that his current price of 10/3 is a great price for a classy horse. He certainly has some quirks and has the tendency to do what he likes and not what the jockey likes which is always an obvious issue when backing him but if he does show up on form he’ll be hard to peg back.
Selections: Cotai Glory 10/3
