Some tasty clashes going down at Newmarket this Friday with several group races on the bill starting off with a Group 3 starring the unbeaten Mrs Danvers. The filly cost a mere £1,000 but has been an absolute revelation for Jonathan Portman, winning all four of her starts. It would be great to see her add a 5th win to that record and is currently trading it around 2/1 to do so. The second race is another Group 3 and has a French raider heading the market in Double Lady, trained by the brilliant Andre Fabre this one has been backed in already from 7/2 to 9/4 and should certainly put on a bold showing under Pierre-Charles Boudot. A Group 2 up next starring some fairly big names, with the like of Cougar Mountain, Gifted Master, Richard Pankhurst and last year’s Cheveley Park winner Lumiere. Some fairly big prices in this one and i’d be tempted to have a little each way punt on Lumiere at 10/1, although she hasn’t quite lived up to expectations this season I still think that’s an absolute monster of a price for a very decent horse on her day. All of these races will be on Channel 4 as well so we can all look forward to hearing Mick Fitzgerald tell us how much of a great guy every jockey that comes on the screen is.
