Today’s betting hasn’t gone very well, I won’t lie. I went in today full of optimism after firing in the last couple of winners at Newmarket yesterday with the one Ryan Moore was on Via something and Del Harraid (that’s spelt wrong) which Pat Cosgrave rode. As well as having the French raider Spain Burg at 14/1 each way and of course Journey at 15/8. So spirits were high this morning. However, as the first race concluded I found myself without even a place to my name, but not to worry I thought as i’d backed a couple of decent shouts in the next. Second race concluded, same outcome, not even a place. I could see an alarm bell, whether it was going to ring or not was in the hands of my best mate Frankie Dettori as he was aboard the mighty Lady Aurelia in the next. The race went off and the almighty Lady went cruising into a 6 length lead on the bridle and i’m thinking here we go, there’s a big boom coming on here. If the race was over 5f that boom would of well and truly arrived, however it wasn’t, it was over 6, which saw the final furlong take it out of her and 25/1 shot Brave Anna taking the spoils with Roly Poly a close 2nd and my big hope of the day fading into third. That alarm bell was now going off like nobodies business. I grabbed the winner of the Cambridgeshire, ‘Spark Plug’ at 12/1 aswell as the 3rd an 4th at big each way prices but it was mere consolation on a day that has left me feeling like what I could imagine it feels like walking in on your missus having it off with the window man. Absolute shocker.
