After the weekend just gone that saw my 16/1 ante post bet on Brando win in the Ayr Gold Cup I can not wait to get stuck into this mighty affair next Saturday. Potentially the last time i’ll get to see my good old friend Mehmas in action in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket against a horse he infamously beat at Glorious Goodwood. However said horse Blue Point has come on a lot since then after destroying a field of decent horses at York back in August and will be a different proposition on the day this time around. Mehmas has also had one run since they last met which was over at the Curragh in Ireland where he came up against the very highly rated AP O’Brien horse Churchill, he found Churchill too good on that day but he still give him a fight up the straight where you thought at one stage he may of had him, however it wasn’t too be. Mehmas is currently trading at 4/1 on ante post markets for the Middle Park Stakes which means you could probably go each way. AP O’Brien superstar Caravaggio has been appearing and disappearing from the markets for this race which makes me think he wont be involved, if he is the odds for both Mehmas and Blue Point will obviously differ. That all being said, I will certainly be on Mehmas again, and if he gets his nose in front for one last time, there will be absolute scenes!
