This years St Leger Festival was concluded on Saturday with Harbour Law winning the showpiece event under George Baker at 22/1, in what turned out to be quite a controversial race. Hot favourite Idaho was sent off at 4/6 and seemed to be travelling alright throughout the race despite sweating, this was until jockey Seamie Heffernan was unseated in the home straight due to an apparent hand change. Following this it looked as though another one of the AP O’Brien’s runners was going to take the showpiece event in Housesofparliament until a ding dong battle with 14/1 shot Ventura Storm unfolded up the home straight, Ventura Storm did take the lead 1 out under champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa until a trademark George Baker ride on Harbour Law undid him near the line. I’m sure the bookies enjoyed that one.
